2026 WAWE World Championship - Team selection criteria

The 2026 Senior World Championships will take place from the 10th - 13th of September at the Escuela Andaluza de Arte Ecuestre in Jerez, Spain. 

Combinations eligible for team selection will be competing at Advanced level and must have achieved their WAWE qualifying score of 62% in both dressage and ease of handling as well as a clear speed test at a WAWE Qualifier competition prior to 01/08/26. 

The British team will be selected according to the following timeline and criteria - 

Attendance at Kelsall Hill national competition - 28/29 March
Attendance at Pickering Grange national competition - 25/26 April
Attendance at Team Pathway Training - 23/24 May

Preselection - 01/06/26
Preselection will be made from the riders who have met the above criteria. Those who have not already achieved their WAWE qualification as explained above will need to have 2 x results of 64% or above in both dressage and ease of handling from Kelsall Hill and Pickering Grange or previous national competitions to be entered in to preselection. 

Attendance at Aston le Walls national competition - 13/14 June
Attendance at Team Pathway Training - 7/8 July
Attendance at Hartpury College national competition - 23 - 26 July

Team Selection - 29/07/26

Attendance at Team Pathway Training - 3/4 August
Attendance at Pontispool national competition 23/24 August
Attendance at Team Pathway Training - 29/30 August

Preselection combinations will also be required to attend a 2 day cattle training which will be coordinated with all riders to ensure full attendance. 

Only in circumstances where an unforeseen incident unavoidably prevents a combination fully meeting the above criteria, and this is supported by appropriate official documentation such as a vet certificate or doctors note, will a rider remain eligible for consideration for team selection.
